Candy Canes represent everybody’s favourite Christmas candy - traditionally a cane shaped candy stick with red and white stripes, and a peppermint flavour. It is most commonly associated with Christmas and has been so since the year 1670! They were first produced in Germany, when a local choirmaster pleaded with a candy maker to come up with a form of candy that a) kept the children quiet during practice and b) represented something worthy. The candy maker came up with the candy cane, shaped like a shepherd's cane to help the children remember the visitors of the baby Jesus. Nearly 200 years later they became a staple Christmas tree edible decoration, adored by children everywhere.
