What sweets can I eat this Veganuary?

What sweets can I eat this Veganuary?

A new year often inspires a new challenge, whether it’s doing more exercise, joining a new club, finally committing to that hobby you’ve always loved... or perhaps dipping your toe into the world of veganism? Since 2014, Veganuary has inspired and supported more than one million people across the globe to try a plant-based diet for January – and beyond.

While veganism includes cutting out meat, dairy, and anything else derived from animals from your diet, those adopting this lifestyle will be pleased to know that it doesn’t have to mean steering clear of the sweeter side of life! Phew!

Here at Retro Sweet we celebrate the power of vintage sweets to transport us back to our childhood and we don’t want anybody to miss out on the fun, which is why we make sure that we stock plenty of tasty treats containing zero animal-derived ingredients across our range.

Our free-from favourites

For many following a plant-based diet, finding a treat (or two) to indulge your sweet tooth can be tricky to say the least – often too much time can be spent lapping the supermarket confectionary aisles trying to decipher ingredient lists! Humph! But, no longer! We’ve done all the hard work for you and are pleased to present five of our best-loved vegan friendly sweet heroes - the only problem is, which to try first?...

  1. Jelly Tots
Not only are Jelly Tots free from animal products, these juicy treats are based on fruit juices and sugars, with no added artificial colours or flavours – result!

  2. Giant Refreshers Chew Bar
Refreshers were launched in 1955 and soon gained popularity for their zingy flavour. These fizzy, sherbet-filled chews can be enjoyed in their Giant Refreshers form knowing that no animals were involved in the production process.

  3. Love Hearts
Love Hearts don’t just have to be for Valentine’s Day – show the planet some love and choose these fizzy, crunchy treats made with zero animal products, at any time of the year.

  4. Double Dip
Being vegan still means that you can take a trip down memory lane with some retro favourites – hooray! We think that using the candy “swizzlestick” to dip into the duo of orange and cherry flavoured fizzy sherbet powders of a Double Dip is so much fun!

  5. Flying saucers
The fizzy kick of sherbet you get from breaking the rice paper shell of flying saucer is truly out of this world! And luckily a pleasure that your inner child won’t have to give up while on a vegan diet.
