With so many to choose from, it’s not been an easy task and you may feel we’ve missed off some key ones, so feel free to get in touch with us with your top 5 too.
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones burst onto the scene in 1981 with this classic movie. You just can’t beat Harrison Ford cracking his whip, saving the girl, tackling booby-traps and wrestling with the bad guys all in the name of archaeology. The success of this iconic 80’s film brought us more Indiana Jones adventures too.
The Goonies
If you haven’t seen it yet, then it’s a must. This heart-warming story of a group of pre-teens and their adventure to find lost treasure to save the demolition of their homes is the perfect Sunday afternoon viewing. Of course, along the way they encounter booby-traps, baddies and the gentle giant Sloth, as well as a touch of romance and self-discovery!
E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
“E.T phone home” is a phrase that pretty much everyone knows, whether you’ve seen the movie or not. This family science-fiction film has become embedded in eighties culture. In short, 10 year old Elliot discovers an alien in his tool shed, and of course befriends it and helps him to evade capture by scientist and get home. You can’t help but watch and feel a warm fuzzy glow!
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
It’s the ultimate truancy we would all have loved to pull off; bunking off for the day, joyriding in your best friends’ dads sports car, singing in a parade in the city and getting away with it all, whilst getting one over on the comedy head master. This classic is just genius and great to watch.
Top Gun
This action drama has everything you need with fast-paced action scenes, romance, heart-break and plenty of eye-candy for both boys and girls. If you want to see a young Tom Cruise parading around ina naval uniform and flying planes, then this is the movie for you. It’s an absolute classic and is still as popular today as it was back then.
With so many great retro films around, why not kick back on the couch, grab some retro sweets and take a trip back to the 80s with your friends next weekend?
