Retro Sweets

Take a trip down memory lane, what are your childhood memories that give you that lovely hazy glow and thoughts of happy days gone by.  I bet somewhere in your sweet dreams are the old fashioned retro sweets from your school days.

Retro sweets, whatever age we are, have a place in our hearts and will always be part of our remembered youth.  Retro sweets probably define our age, but are loved by all ages and whenever people get together to talk about their youth, retro sweets are always there somewhere, there is always a smile on everyone’s face when they remember retro sweets.

Many of us remember the old traditional sweetshop where our beloved retro sweets were sold in jars and measured out on small scales into paper bags.  Those too young to be part of the traditional retro sweet era, will listen to their parents talk dreamily about those long gone much loved places where you would take your pocket money to spend on your favourite retro sweets.  Usually served by grey haired old ladies, who would wait patiently for you to make that all important choice, would it be a sherbet fountain, some love hearts or maybe a quarter of cola cubes?  Oh the choice was an agonising one and surely couldn’t be rushed.

Those days may have long gone – oh no they haven’t, retro sweets are here to stay, they are up there with the Beano and Dennis the Menace, much too good to disappear from our lives.  Retro sweets are now readily available, maybe not served by little old ladies but still just as good.  Retro sweets have a place for all of us and just like Dr Who you can be transported back in time to buy your much loved retro sweets from your old school days.
